The Food Code is a plain-English library of guides and tools for Australian food business builders — home-based, market stall, and mobile. Everything is written for the Australian market, grounded in real commercial conditions, and aligned to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, so you're not piecing together advice from overseas websites or generic templates.
-
Anyone planning to start, set up, or grow a food business in Australia, whether you're baking from your home kitchen, trading at markets, or serving from a food truck.
-
Yes, the core content applies right across Australia. All our Blueprints and tools are built to align with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, which is implemented nationally. The commercial insights are uniquely Australian too, grounded in real local market conditions, not adapted from overseas content. Keep in mind that state laws, local council requirements, and specific product types can add extra requirements on top, so always confirm the final details with your local council or relevant authority before trading.

Start with the model that matches how you'll be selling: Home-Based if you'll prepare and sell from your home kitchen, Market Stall if you'll trade at markets and events, or Mobile if you're building a food truck, trailer, or coffee van. If you'll prep at home and trade at a market or in a mobile vehicle, you'll likely need both the Home-Based Blueprint and the relevant trading Blueprint, which is why the Complete Bundle exists.

The Launch Toolkit includes 3 ready-to-use tools to help you move from planning to action: SmartSafe™ Food Safety Management System, Profit Protector™ Pricing Calculator and The Food Business Brand Workbook,

Everything is a digital download: PDFs, editable Excel spreadsheets, and fillable templates you can print. They're yours to keep forever. No logins, no expiry, no course videos to sit through, you can start using everything within five minutes of purchase.

Instantly. As soon as your purchase goes through, your download link appears on the confirmation page and is also sent to your email. The link is active for 24 hours, so we recommend downloading and saving your files straight away. If your link expires before you've downloaded, just email us and we'll send a fresh one.

Your Blueprint is delivered as a ZIP file; a compressed folder that bundles all the guides, templates, and resources into a single download. Here's how to access everything inside:
On a computer (Windows or Mac)
Click the download link in your confirmation email or on the thank-you page.
Save the ZIP file somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Double-click the file to open it. On Windows, you may need to right-click and choose "Extract All." On Mac, double-clicking will automatically unzip it into a new folder.
Open the new folder to access your files.
On a phone or tablet
We recommend downloading on a computer where possible, since phones don't always handle ZIP files smoothly. If you do need to use a mobile device:
iPhone or iPad: Tap the download link, then open the Files app. Tap the ZIP file and it will extract into a folder you can browse.
Android: Open your Files or Downloads app, tap the ZIP file, and select "Extract" or "Open."
A few quick tips
Make sure you have enough storage space on your device before downloading.
A stable internet connection helps the download complete properly — if it stops partway, the file may not open correctly.
Once extracted, we recommend saving the full folder to cloud storage (like Google Drive or Dropbox) so you always have a backup.
Having trouble?
If your file won't open, appears corrupted, or you can't find your download link, email us at info@thefoodcode.com.au with your order number and we'll sort it out quickly.

No, and that's intentional. The Food Code is an educational publication, not legal, financial, or regulatory advice. But it's also not just information. It's curated, structured, Australia-specific educational content that translates the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and Australian business practices into plain English — so you understand what applies to your business, what to ask, and where to go for specific advice.
For matters that need personalised input; complex fit-outs, unusual products, or regulatory input — your local council, or a qualified professional is the right next step.
-
No. The Food Code is an independent publication, not affiliated with Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), any state government, or any local council. Our content draws on Australian commercial insights and the publicly available Food Standards Code, written in plain English to make it easier to apply. That said, you should always confirm specific requirements with the relevant authority before trading.
